And in this half-yearly round-up, I am sharing 5 Books that I have really enjoyed reading this year.  1. Happily Ever And Never Afters: This book of short stories by Vidya Sanath consists of 16 enchanting short stories, of varied emotions- love, happiness, grief, stigma, remorse and betrayal.  The a uthor  portrays the everyday lives of ordinary people, rich in nuances. Subtle feelings that often get overlooked, certain hurts that are often endured in relationships, are presented in a very grounded form of storytelling. The story, Sorry I Touched Her, sharply highlights the social discrimination of someone based on their marital status, while the story Rebirth drives the reader into a grief-struck couple's life who are going through a rough phase after child loss.  The constant ups and downs of various emot...

It is a miracle how time flies, and it is also very hard to believe that 6 months have already passed in 2026. My year so far has been decent; not much has been happening. I hoped to travel, but it did not function. So, I thought of sharing what had happened. As always, I watched a few Bengali web series this year. Interestingly, a lot of these had very strong female characters, who gain power after going through years of suppression, unfair treatment, and torture. All these web series that I would be writing about have very different plots and characters. They have women from different backgrounds and worlds, from educated careerists trying to climb the corporate ladder to factory workers in a tannery. But one thing remains common in all these women: they have to fight every moment for what they deserve, and that is basic dignity and respect.
