"Z"for "Zeal"
She was sitting in a corner with the manuscript on her lap. It was her dream, since she stepped into the big city, to work under a famous filmmaker. And finally, after five gruelling years of sharing chawls and odd jobs at cafes and stores, she had made it here, today, with the script that she had been working on. Earlier, she had shown some of her scripts to some indie filmmakers. Some of them threw it on her face, some of them smiled and had bid her adieu with a” will get back soon”. But she almost broke down when she saw a YouTube short film that matched her script exactly, even down to the title. And she tracked the maker to be one of those, “will get back soon”. When she tried to contact him to ask for credit, he denied it, saying their meeting had been just a figment of her imagination. But after going through so much betrayal and rejection, she finally found herself at one of the biggest filmmakers’ offices. She was oozing in excitement from within, but the last 5 years of extreme struggle had taught her to humble down and control her overflowing emotions. But her eyes, full of hope and happiness, could not hide the enthusiasm of getting that one chance. At least 20 people were sitting in the plush office lobby, waiting to be called by the filmmaker, known for his magnanimous portrayals in cinema. One by one, 5 candidates were called in. But before the sixth name was announced, the filmmaker himself came out of his office. “Who wrote the script for Anjaan Raahe?” That was the title of the script that was made into the YouTube short film, without any credits given to her. Still, she got up and raised her hand, shakily. “Come to my office, miss.” Nervously, she followed him to the office with lavish interiors. “Show what you have got.” She handed the script to the great filmmaker and asked him, scared, if he had watched Anjaan Raahe. “Huh, the bugger who made the short film now works for me as an assistant director. I gave him a chance after watching the film. But after a few weeks, I realised that kind of script could not come from such dull-headed rot. So, a bit of pressure, and he promised me to get the actual screenwriter, and here you are. So now, miss, you read your new script to me, and we will create history together.”
