My Valentine's Day Playlist #WriteAPageADay

I remember when I was in school, one of my friends had gifted me a cassette with some really nice Love songs, some of those still make me swoon and bring out the dormant "lover-girl" in me. Too much, huh!! That's me! Some of the songs are quite old and for many rusted/dusted/cliched. But I still get fascinated by these tunes, and fall in love every time I listen to these ( with the songs of course) 

Here are the  songs for my Valentine's Day playlist:

1. Mujhse Milne Ke Woh Karta Tha: This is a beautiful ghazal sung by Chitra Singh. The lyrics by Jagjit Singh convey old love and its memories, a little bitter - a little sweet. 


2. Everything I Do, I Do It for You: Bryan Adams and the magic of his husky voice- that's what this song is about. The music from the motion picture Robin Hood (I like the movie and Kevin Costner, too) has some soul-touching lyrics and a tune that touches the heart.


3. Nawazish Karam: This ghazal by Mehdi Hassan is a very sweet and light, charming song about a lover, describing the beauty of his love. 

 
 4. Right Here Waiting: This is a lovely song by Richard Marx- truly romantic from every aspect, right from the lyrics, and the soft music.


5. Nothing's Gonna Change My Love for You: This is perhaps the most popular Valentine's Day song, at least that I am aware of. I still remember a visit to Archie's Gallery and this George Benson song playing in the background. 


6. I Will Always Love You: Bodyguard, Kevin Costner and above all, Whitney Houston's mesmerising voice. I will always love this song.


7. My Cheri Amour: No Words...just Stevie Wonder and magic!!


There are many songs; however, I could think of seven that could be my companions on the Day of Love. Let me know which tunes bring out the lover in you.

Mushy Mushrooms, Mini Macaroons & 5 Whodunnit Murder Mysteries to Watch on My Breakfast Plate

As the mother of a fourth-grade student, my mornings start at 5:30 a.m. daily. Making breakfast and setting up lunchboxes keep me occupied during those hours and since I like to keep it simple for breakfasts, they generally get quite boring, with either bread toasts or chapattis. (common story of a lot of moms). Sometimes our wishes can go to an extravaganza and the longing for a due break with a lavish breakfast consisting of some creamy- buttery mushy mushrooms sprinkled with roasted garlic, some berry-flavoured mini macaroons and to top it all a thrilling, chilling old-fashioned Whodunnit Murder Mystery Movie playing on TV just makes things perfect. Self-Reflection and Realization

Every year, before the onset of Durga Puja, readers of Bengali literature receive some precious gifts in the form of the Sharadiya Pujabarshiki (Yearly Literary Magazine). For the past 70 years or so, we have seen some outstanding works from the Creme' of Bengali literature like Samaresh Basu, Sunil Ganguly, Shirshendu Mukherjee, Ashapurna Devi and many others being published in these magazines for the first time. This trend continues; this year, too, my husband gifted me a few such magazines before Durga Puja.
