4 Thrillers Released this Year that I Watched
I had been concentrating more on watching old movies these days, so there were very few newly released films that I could manage to watch. Today I am going to write about 4 of these films.
1. Follow: This film is about a con artist who follows and traps rich women with his charm and then runs away with their money. One night, as he is about to retire, he meets with an accident and has a chance meeting with a woman, which changes his entire life. This is an underwhelming thriller that could have been much better. Somewhere, the thrill fails to create any stir of curiosity and often falls flat.
2. Drop: This is a good one-time watch film, where a widowed mother, with a traumatic past, tries dating, but is tormented constantly by someone over her phone, where she is instructed to carry out an atrocious task to save his son, back at home. The suspects are way too many, starting from his date to the piano player at the restaurant. This is a gripping thriller, and it would not bore anyone.
3. Damaged: There are good actors, and there is Samuel L. Jackson. This thriller, by far, is the best I've watched this year. An LAPD cop is invited to Edinburgh for an investigation into some gruesome serial killings, supposedly a copycat series of murders that he had been trying to solve with his partner. While he is still lamenting over the unsolved murders, his partner has retired and settled in London. Upon investigation, they come across symbols, cults, and occults. This twisted murder mystery is a must-watch for the story, plot and the performance of Samuel L. Jackson.
4. Companion: Iris is the perfect woman for Josh- sweet, nice, measured and beautiful. Everything is going well except his friends don't like her. Both travel to a secluded lake-house of their Russian billionaire friend for a weekend getaway, and everything changes when Sergey, the owner of the house, is killed. This is a Sci-fi thriller with its fair share of comedic moments and plot twists that are never forced. It's an enjoyable watch and often will leave us thinking of the quintessential question- who is more humane, machines or humans!
