"V" inci Da Bengali Movie Review #BlogchatterA2Z
The letter V is tough to find in use in the Bengali language, as we don't pronounce V at all. So any word that starts with V is either pronounced as B or Bh in some cases. However, there is one prominent film by Srijit Mukherjee called "Vinci Da" and I am going to review it today for the 22nd day of the #Blogchattera2z challenge.
Synopsis
A brilliant and eccentric makeup artist, mockingly called Vinci Da due to his love for Da Vinci's art, finds solace in creating makeup for local club dramas. One day, he is visited by a strange man named Adi Bose, who offers him the opportunity of a lifetime: to create realistic masks of random people. Unaware of the true purpose behind this unusual assignment, Vinci Da dedicates himself fully to crafting the masks. However, he soon discovers that he is in grave danger. Adi Bose is actually a dangerous serial killer who uses the lookalike masks to impersonate corrupt individuals, committing heinous crimes while framing them to ensure their arrest. In this context, Vinci Da's girlfriend Jaya is brutally raped.
Investigative officer Bijoy Poddar takes on the case, and his investigation leads him to Vinci Da. What actions does Vinci Da take to evade him and seek revenge on Adi Bose for the rape of his girlfriend?
Review and Significance
"Vinci Da" is a thrilling film and one of Srijit Mukherji's finest creations, playing a vital role in his "Cop Universe," which started with "Baishe Srabon." Rudranil Ghosh gives a remarkable performance as Vinci Da, while Ritwick Chakraborty excels as Adi Bose. Rudranil's portrayal of Vinci is particularly striking; he embodies an eccentric makeup artist devoted to creating realistic designs. Despite his talent, Vinci struggles to find work in the film industry due to his authenticity. As a devoted lover and, ultimately, a determined individual seeking revenge, Vinci's journey is captivatingly depicted by the actor.
I would like to give a special mention to Ridhi Sen for his portrayal of the younger Adi Bose. He effectively captured the character's monstrous side during a brief but incredibly intense moment in the film. Anirban Bhattacharya, as Bijoy Poddar, fully embraces the character's depth, making a remarkable entrance into the Cop Universe alongside his predecessors, Prasenjit Chatterji and Parambrata Chatterji.
Srijit Mukherji's direction is fast-paced, striking a perfect balance between emotion and violence, which allows the characters to truly shine.
" Vinci Da" is surely one of the finest thrillers in Bengali Cinema.
