"S" hotyi Bole Shotyi Kichu Nei Bengali Movie Review #BlogchatterA2Z

"Ek Ruka Hua Faisla" is a landmark film directed by Basu Chatterji. With "Shottyi Bole Shotyi Kichu Nei" ," Srijit Mukherji has paid tribute to this classic movie. For today's #BlogchatterA2Z challenge, I have chosen to review this film.

Synopsis

Brajeswar Dutta is a renowned judge who is celebrating his birthday at home. However, amid the festivities, his mind is preoccupied with a murder case involving a 19-year-old boy who has killed his older brother and awaits trial, which is under Brajeswar's jurisdiction.

In his mind, Brajeswar envisions a scenario where the guests at his birthday party become individual jurors to form a jury that will ultimately reach a unanimous verdict in the case. As the trial unfolds, each character reveals their opinions, heavily influenced by their inner demons and personal vices.

Throughout the film, the true nature of each character emerges, exposing the reality behind the facade of goodness, discipline, and other virtues they typically present to the world.

His inner world leads him to create a make-believe situation where the people present at his birthday party turn to individual jurors to form a jury who will ultimately come to a unanimous decision in the case. During the trial, each character comes out with their opinion, which is heavily influenced by their inner demons and personal vices.

What follows throughout the film is the real face of every character, under the facade of goodness, discipline and other virtues they mask themselves with.

Review & Significance

Frankly, "Shotyi Bole Shotyi Kichu Nei" is a complex movie that demands viewers follow the story without judgment. The heightened emotions- or lack thereof—exhibited by each character are influenced by their personal experiences. The film highlights the contrasting perspectives of two strong characters: Brajeswar, a judge, and Dhiman, an economist. Both are friends and hold respected positions in their respective fields, but they embody very different outlooks on life.

Dhiman, despite his polished exterior, respects everyone and is compassionate, while Brajeswar shows little regard for others and seems to operate from a narcissistic standpoint to assert his superiority. The film eventually reveals the reasons behind Brajeswar's behaviour and obsession with a particular case. The sudden twists help the audience understand what drives each character's beliefs and actions.

The settings where the characters appear also change frequently, ranging from a forest to a beach, and at times even an empty flyover.

Overall, "Shotyi Bole Shotyi Kichu Nei" is both a visual and mental treat for those who appreciate complex psychological dramas. The performances from the entire cast are outstanding, particularly those of Parambrata Chattopadhyay and Kaushik Ganguly. Ganguly, in particular, expertly portrays Brajeswar's explosive anger when faced with disagreement and effectively showcases his narcissistic tendencies.
