Hollywood Bad Girls Imagined as Bollywood Female Actors
In yesterday's post, I let my wild imagination replace some Bollywood actors in bad-boy characters from popular Hollywood films. Today, I am doing the same with the Bad Girls of Hollywood. I had to think a bit to narrow it down to 6 lead female actors who would fit those roles yxstaudip, with grey shades. But here they are:
1. Catwoman: Catwoman, for me, would always be Michelle Pfeiffer. Her performance truly deserved its own movie. Unpopular opinion: although I enjoyed Halle Berry's performance in Catwoman, despite it being panned by critics and audiences, Pfeiffer still stands as the favourite. She brought out the extreme, polarising personalities of her pre- and post-turnings with finesse, making it iconic.
Back to Bollywood, the only name that came to mind for the role of Catwoman is Deepika Padukone. I think she has the agility and athleticism to take on that role with confidence. She has proved time and again that she is a powerful action star. On top of that, her Star power is undeniable.
2. Amy Dunne: What's a list of female Bad Girls without mentioning Amy Dunne from Gone Girl? When provoked, Amy resorts to her highly intelligent, manipulative tactics. She fools everyone into getting what she wants. However, no matter how evil she acted, she was once a charming woman with dreams of a happy married life. When her husband betrays and assaults her, her vengeance turns dangerous. I love the movie, and Rosamund Pike is simply outstanding.
For a Bollywood actor to fit the role, I first thought of Taapsee Pannu, as we have seen her in many characters with shades of grey. However, I wanted someone who resembled Pike. So my choice for Amy Dunne is Raashi Khanna. I have not seen much of her work, other than Rudra and Farzi. I liked her portrayal of Dr Aliya Choksi in Rudra. Stepping into the role of an iconic TV villain like Alice Morgan, played so convincingly by Ruth Wilson, is not easy. But Khanna had managed to shape up the nuances of the complex sociopath quite convincingly. So, she would make a good choice for Dunne.
3. Poison Ivy: The movie Batman & Robin was a disaster; I agree. But I also agree the best thing in the movie was Uma Thurman's Poison Ivy. She, with her drooling eyes and addictive charm, had all the good people and bad people hypnotised. And Thurman could bring out that pride of an evil, seductive beauty quite efficiently. It might not be as iconic as Pfeiffer's Catwoman, but nonetheless, it was the only good part about the movie.
Initially, I had pictured Alia Bhatt playing the part of Poison Ivy. However, later, I had a second thought and chose Kriti Sanon for the role. Both the actors are good, but since Kriti's physical appearance would match well with Thurman's tall stature, my first choice was her. She has the looks and charm and would bring out that eccentric and prideful evil character to life. (We saw a glimpse from the Obsession video with Varun Dhawan)
4. Harley Quin: I have not watched Margot Robbie's Harley Quin. But given the range of acting she has shown throughout, and with all the rave reviews. I am sure she is marvellous in the role in all three Suicide Squad movies.
I had to think a while before zeroing in on the actor from Bollywood who would look great in the role. I chose Rashmika Mandanna for that. We have seen her action stunts in Thamma, and her expressive eyes can be a good match for Robbie's deadly eye expressions.
5. Pearl: Mia Goth is a great actress. Her standout features also make it difficult to think of any other actor to replace her in any role she has done. Pearl, as a character, has to be someone who looks rather innocent but can reveal her inner demons when provoked.
I thought Sanya Malhotra could fit the bill quite effectively. She has the innocence and simplicity the character demands. I have not seen any movie where she has played an eccentric character. However, her portrayal of Genda in Pataakha had a few cat-fighting scenes with the character of her elder sister, and she showed what she was capable of. Also, not to forget the scene in Mrs. where she finally stands up for herself.
6. Lola: The character of Lola is not as popular as the above ones, since it is from an Australian movie, The Loved Ones. Portrayed by Robin McLeavy, Lola is a timid girl who is often bullied at school. She invites her crush, Brent, to the school formals, but he refuses. Later, Brent finds himself tied in an unknown place. Gradually, the dark side of Lola is revealed. Robin McLeavy has done an outstanding job as Lola. She is cute, deadly and scary.
A few months back, I watched Sayiara, and the debutante Aneet Padda was pretty good in her first movie role. I thought she would make an excellent choice for the role of Lola. Since I have not watched any of the other younger actresses' performances, like Rasha Thadani or Sara Arjun, Padda was my first choice.
