Top 5 Hindi Films about Kids to watch with Kids

Image
A few weeks back, I was watching a film about a kid, along with my daughter. She loves that movie and generally watches it when they show it on TV (if she has time). She was complaining to me that why I don't write about more such films that are about kids and that she can also read. It struck my mind, and I decided to pen down a few such movies kids can watch with their families. Today, I will list some movies involving kids that kids can enjoy. 1. Mr. India (1987): A goon is after a big house, where Arun lives with a few orphan kids and his cook. He loves the kids as his own and gets furious when one of the kids dies. He finds a watch that his late father had invented and that can turn one invisible. Thus begins his journey of revenge and justice for the kids with the help of his reporter girlfriend. The first Hindi film that one can think about children is definitely this one starring Anil Kapoor, Sridevi and Amrish Puri. Who can forget Arun's invisible funny acts and the v...

Why Should We Visit Shilpgram Park, Mumbai?

Image
Last Monday, my daughter and her classmates visited Shilpgram Park for their School Field Trip. She praised the place so much that we decided to see it this weekend. So, we started from our house in Powai at around 4:30 pm.  It took just half an hour to reach Jogeswari, where the park is. There is a nominal entry fee at the entrance. Upon entering, we saw the park was filled with giant trees and colourful flowers. A road led to the musical fountain. The show was about to start, so we gathered in the gallery for a close view. It was filled with school kids and many other visitors.  The Musical fountain show was so enjoyable. They played 2 songs, "Azeem-O-Shaan Sheahanshah" and "Ye Haseen Wadiya". The rhythm so beautifully matched with the flow of the water. All the kids were happy to watch it. Even we enjoyed it a lot. I Say I Do the #ReadingWithMuffy Challenge

Image
As a student, I used to be glued to story books and any kind of fiction. Often, my mother had caught me sneaking into comic books hidden under the textbooks. But later on, I lost interest, and just used to pick up books now and then. The avid reader in me took a back seat, and other interests took its place. But this year, I managed to complete my reading challenge. Since I would like to call myself a beginner in this, I want to set my goals brief and manageable.  Importance of Prompts In the vast ocean of books, it often becomes quite challenging to pick the right one to read. Therefore, a given prompt makes it easier to choose what book to go for.  2025 will be quite exciting, and I can already sense that.   #ReadingWithMuffy Challenge with Shalini and her furry friend Muffy is something I am looking forward to. The 12 Prompts will surely make the reading a fun activity. I am yet to select the books, but I am sure that's something that will occupy me for qu...

Planning 2025 My Way #BlogchatterWrapParty

Image
Before going into my planning for 2025, I want to summarize one thing: 2024 has been much better than I had planned and thought of. Hopefully, even 2025 will prove to be an enjoyable year for all.  Personal Goals: 1. Travel More: 2024 was a fantastic year as we surpassed our travelling goals as a family. In the upcoming year, I want to travel more. This can occasionally be anywhere, even to Juhu Beach or Marine Drive, other than the long trips. Travelling allows us to spend quality time with family, which is my most important thing. Travelling broadens our perspective and vision. It will also help my daughter in her personal growth and development.  2. Learn New Things: We are learning something new every day. Knowledge is power. I plan to take up driving lessons this year, which has been pending for many years. I also want to learn a new language, preferably German or French. I will research more for my blog and learn techniques and tools to improve it. Reading also forms a...

Revisiting A Christmas Carol with My Daughter #TBRChallenge

Image
I still remember my Rapid Reader English Book from Std vii. It was Charles Dicken's famous book, A Christmas Carol. I can't count how many times I read that book that time, not only because it was a part of our curriculum but also because it was a book that almost made me visualize the story the way no other book had ever done.  So, this time, I thought of reading the book to my daughter again. Completing the book took me 10 days because she has her school and other classes. So, we decided to read the story every night before bedtime.  From the beginning, the confinement of Ebenezer Scrooge's character could be sensed from the description of his office- devoid of proper light or adequate heating. His behaviour with his clerk and the other people who visited him in the hope of Charity for the poor was appallingly rude and atrocious. We can come to a conclusion of how narrow-minded and rigid he was as a person. He was dubious, unhappy, and disrespectful towards everything and...

My 2024 of 7 Hindi Films #BlogchatterWrapParty

Image
I love watching films, and this year, I watched a few new releases. However, I have yet to watch much more; one of the topmost on my list is Lapaata Ladies. Anyway, I have watched other films I can discuss for the 3rd post of #BlogchatterWrapParty.  1. Murder Mubarak ( Thriller/Comedy): The story of this film, directed by Homi Adjania, had much potential. However, the film failed to hit the chord due to a sloppy screenplay and some underwhelming performances. People are getting killed in a prestigious club meant for the who's who of the city. While investigating, the cop (Pankaj Tripathi) reveals some very unexpected truths, along with the help of a few of the club members. Behind the mask of wealth and pomp lie too many dirty secrets buried. This Whodunnit murder mystery could have been better with a crisper length, better editing and dialogues. Even good performers like Pankaj Tripathi and Vijay Varma could not do much to save the movie.  2. Shaitaan (Horror): This film, d...

Summarizing 2024 in 6S's with #BlogchatterWrapParty

Image
I can't believe we are wrapping up the year 2024 in just a few days. Summarizing the year in just 6 words is quite challenging for me, as it is the most cherished year worth remembering after a long time. Still, I will fit the happenings in 6 words and elaborate further.  6 S's of 2024 1. Self-Acceptance:   I had issues accepting things the way they were most of my life. This brought about a lot of unhappiness and dissatisfaction that almost drove me to the verge of depression. This year has been a year of acceptance for me. Earlier, I used to overthink other people's actions and reactions and often reacted impulsively to control the situation. However, this year, I have tried to accept things and people as they are without influencing the outcome. Having said so, of course, this is not from the point of view of hopelessness, but now I accept that not everyone will be on the same page as mine. Some people will differ from my ideas and ways, even my near and dear ones....

Only Hope, It Is!

Image
I was looking at the broken mirror in front of me. "Where am I? Is it my bedroom?" The painting on the wall was lying on the floor; its broken glasses were scattered all over. A part of the wall had become hollow, revealing the corridor from the other side. A massive pile from the ceiling was hanging and blocking my bedroom door. "What happened when I was sleeping? Is it a nightmare, or was there a bomb, or maybe an earthquake!" I had no idea. Somehow, I returned to my senses and went to the corridor from the hollow on the wall. The living room had turned into a pile of bricks and dust. The sofa set, TV, and wooden furniture- all I had collected over the years with passion- all turned to dust. There was no door to the exit. I could see the outside massacre. The neighbourhood houses had also faced the same fate. I came out to witness a destruction similar to what I had seen after the Atom bomb explosion in pictures. There was not a single soul in that place where, un...
