Top 7 Deadliest Home Invasion Movies to Watch

Image
I did not get a chance to watch Parasite- the Korean Film that won an Oscar, but I got to know the story, and it is about Home Invasion. Though I have not watched Parasite, I have managed to watch few Home Invasion films that are dead scary. Here are the ones: 1. Funny Games: This 2007 film is a remake of an Italian film of the same name. A happy family vacationing in their farmhouse is terrorized by 2 young men. The film is brutal and brings out the crazy side of human beings that is without empathy or kindness for anybody. The stark contrast of the presentation of the criminals with their unthinkable and sudden activities is noteworthy. They look like nerdy good boys, wearing white attire and speaking with sophisticated vocabulary, very unsusceptible of the crimes they carry out in others' houses. The movie is dark and has some good performances, especially by Michael Pitt and Brady Corbet.  2. The Strangers: No matter how many sequels come and go, nothing can beat the or...

6 Bengali Fantasy Films to Watch

Image
I had a chance to watch Kalki recently. It was a wonderful experience and Prabhas was mind-blowing as Bhairav/Karna. After watching it, I wondered if we have such fantasy films in Bengal. Then, I managed to narrow it down to a few Bengali Films that had successfully brewed reality and fantasy over the years.  1. Jomaloy Jibonto Manush: One of the best classic comedy films of the 60s, this one had one of the most celebrated comedians of Bengal, Bhanu Bandopadhyay, in the lead role, supported by Basabi Nandi as his love interest. The story is of a simple and honest man courting the daughter of a wealthy village landlord who disapproves of the relationship. The girl commits suicide, and the man leaves everything in grief when 2 Yamdutas, by mistake, take him to the court of Yama. What happens then is a full episode of comedy of errors and brilliant games between one single man and the Gods in Heaven. Bandopadhyay is as funny as ever and was supported aptly by some noted actors of tha...

The popularity of fantasy films across all ages has proved time and again that our imagination knows no bound, irrespective of age. Be it Lord of the Rings Franchise, Twilight Franchise or Harry Potter franchises, time and again the audience has accepted and loved to witness the various forms of fantasy world. Today I have enlisted few such fantasy films which perhaps have not been so popular as the mentioned ones, but they do exist and have made their mark in a selected group of viewers. 1. Legend (1985) : I remember watching this film long back, perhaps in school. Back then, Tom Cruise was one of the few Hollywood movie stars who were popular among kids. (I don't know why exactly) However, this film was completely different when it comes to a Tom Cruise movie type; I think it's from his early acting days and here he plays the role of a simple boy who has to save his ...
