The Muse #WriteAPageADay

I was going through the dictionary last night before going to bed. What's a muse? Google pulled out different meanings of the word, and my limited brain narrowed it down to one meaning, " an inspiration to my creativity." This may sound simple, but I realized my limited brain has opened up an unlimited opportunity to decide on my muse. Since then, I have started to wonder about options.

I slept late last night as I am currently reading a very interesting novel. I wondered if I could consider a character from a book or a film as my muse. I have liked many characters in books and movies, but somehow, they never seemed real. I knew I wanted my muse to be real.

I got up early and could hear the sweet chirp of some bird, just like I wrote about yesterday. Is that my muse? Or are those squirrels running around everywhere going to be my muse? Can my muse be something other than a human being? I started thinking deeply.

My husband got up a little late. I like to look at his face when he just gets up; it's a bit swollen, his eyes a bit droopy, and I cannot ignore his big lashes. I wish I had those; I would have ditched my mascara forever. Is he my muse? I write about him a lot these days. My thoughts deepened.

I went to wake my daughter up. The look of her innocent sleeping face is the most beautiful thing in the world for me. I realized I write about her all the time, most of the time. Is she my muse? I got submerged in my thoughts.

They all leave. My husband for office, my daughter for school. I am all alone at home. I need to take a shower. I go to my wardrobe to take out my outfit. I look at my reflection in the mirror. I like what I see- a middle-aged woman with grey hair, a bit heavier around the waist, a slight double chin, a few fine lines - all the signs of what she has seen and been through- the good, the bad, the ups, the downs. She is the representation of all that surrounds, everyone and everything around me. I realize it's me who inspires me to work every day. I remember Frida Kahlo, "I am my own muse, the subject I know best."
